What are Veneers?

A veneer is a thin porcelain layer attached on to the front surface of your tooth. The improvement in appearance of the teeth is remarkable and the procedure requires little or no anaesthesia, and it's painless. Patients choosing our veneers treatment can expect and amazing smile with whiter, straighter and even looking teeth.

When would we need veneers?

Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy. They can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured or stained teeth or to lighten front teeth (usually the upper ones) generally. A veneer can make a chipped tooth look intact again. The porcelain covers the whole of the front of the tooth with a thicker section replacing the broken part. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others. Veneers can also be used for Diastema – Gaps between teeth. Veneers can be considered as an alternative treatment when orthodontic braces are needed as well.

What are the different types of porcelain veneers?

Porcelain ceramic is the main material used in veneers, Generally there are 2 types of porcelain veneers; pressed porcelain veneers and feldspathic porcelain veneers. The main difference between them is that pressed porcelain veneers i.e. eMax IPS Veneers are cast and adjusted to match the patient's teeth shape and have a more natural feel as well as uniform shade with the rest of the teeth. Our customers get involved in designing their veneers together with our dentists so that the best possible veneers are produced as per their specification and to achieve maximum satisfaction.

While feldspathic porcelain veneers on the other hand are build using porcelain ceramic layers created using high temperature casting methods, and generally due to the multi layer process they are generally thicker compared to pressed porcelain veneers like eMax IPS Veneers. Feldspathic porcelain veneers need tooth preparation work to be done as well so that the teeth can bond firmly with the veneers.

Procedure of eMax Veneers

The first step towards having eMax Veneers procedure is the assessment phase where one of our dentists will make sure the patient is suitable for such treatment. During this consultation our cosmetic dentist will discuss the procedure and gather any requirements our patients have.

Once the patient is happy with the suggested treatment our dental specialists will take an initial impression of the patients teeth and colour to match the colour of the surrounding teeth, using wax to create the desired design and shape by the patient. Once the design and their shape is completed and the patient is happy to proceed with them, the veneer cast is then placed into its mould which then is placed under high pressure treatment to produce the final result veneers. It is due to this method of preparation and production that eMax veneers are so strong and durable while being so thin layers.

EMax veneers only require very little preparation of the patients teeth. It's probably one of the main advantages of pressed veneers, as requires much less preparation of patients teeth hence causing less damage to the enamel of our existing teeth.

Once the veneers have been produced to the required specifications, our cosmetic dentist will present them to the patient and ensure everything matches the desired requirements; if the patient is satisfied with what is presented our dentist will proceed on the next phase which is the bonding/placement of the produced veneers onto the supporting teeth surface using special adhesives which bond the veneers in place. Then our dentist will perform the final phase of evaluating the patient's bite and making any required adjustments as needed until the patient is happy.

After Care

We provide 3 years warranty for eMax Veneers and our patients can expect eMax veneers to have many years of lifespan. Our dentist advice our patients to look after their veneers in order for them to prolong their lifespan. In cases where small chips happen they can be repaired or if needed they can be individually replaced.

A good dental hygiene and a yearly check-up visit to the dentist is needed in order to have healthy supporting teeth. Using whitening toothpaste, flossing and a soft toothbrush to clean stains will ensure your veneers are kept clean and white.

NOTICE; Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy, however, they are a cosmetic treatment; it's important to understand that they do not correct health problems of your teeth.
